Hong Kong skier Audrey King leaves quarantine after testing negative

Hong Kong Olympic alpine skier Audrey King has been allowed to leave quarantine for training after she tested negative for Covid-19 on Thursday.

King, 19, tested positive upon arrival in Beijing from the team’s Bosnia training camp on January 30. The result was confirmed on Monday, and the athlete had to be quarantined.

After testing negative two times, King is allowed to leave the quarantine facility today.

Her health conditions will be monitored for another seven days. Should she recover in time, she will be able to compete in the women’s slalom on February 9.

Her teammate Adrian Yung Hau-tsuen has been considered a close contact and cannot attend the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on Friday.

Short-track speed skater Sidney Chu, who will take part in his first ever Olympics in the men's 500-metre event, has been selected as Hong Kong team's flag bearer.
