The first-ever Children's Character Festival was launched on Sunday, with officials such as Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun Yuk-han, the incoming chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) Frederick Ma Si-hang attending the opening ceremony.

The festival invited children aged 3 to 10 to create stories through drawings or writings based on their personal experiences under the theme of kindness.
During the two-day event, the participating children will share their unique stories in English with adjudicators and audiences.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sun emphasized human's ability to foster good character compared to AI, highlighting the importance of developing positive traits early on.
The event aims to plant seeds of kindness through storytelling, nurturing the next generation to become compassionate and responsible citizens.

Children’s Character Festival ceremony was graced by guests including Secretary for Labour and Welfare and Commission on Children vice-chairperson Chris Sun Yuk-han, Character Education Foundation co-chairperson Professor Frederick Ma, CTF Education Group president and deputy vice chairwoman Jennifer Yu Cheng, and The Education University of Hong Kong president John Lee.
