Entitled "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Picasso for Asia—A Conversation," the notable pieces on display include iconic "Portrait of a Man" (1902–1903), "The Acrobat" (1930), "Figures by the Sea" (1931), and sculpture "Goat Skull, Bottle and Candle" (1951–1953).
The masterpieces were meticulously selected from the Musée National Picasso-Paris (MnPP), which houses the largest collection of Picasso's creations worldwide.
Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Picasso's life through four artistic archetypes—The Genius, The Outsider, The Magician, and The Apprentice—curated by the museum to provide insight into why Picasso is regarded as the quintessential artist of the twentieth century.
The exhibition will also highlight a rich intercultural and intergenerational dialogue, offering unique perspectives on Picasso's wide-reaching influence by showcasing around 130 works by 30 Asian and Asian-diasporic artists active today and in the recent past.
Additionally, M+ Cinema will present "Jockey Club Community Outreach and Arts Education Programmes: Picasso on Film—The Making of an Icon" to complement the exhibition.
This program will feature a selection of films exploring Picasso's life and work, as well as how he crafted his image for a global audience.
