Speaking at an event on Sunday, Cheuk highlighted the close ties in trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges among Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macau.
He expressed confidence that, through deepened cooperation, the three core regions in the Greater Bay Area will significantly contribute to national development.
The secretary reminded journalists from these regions of President Xi Jinping’s directives to enhance China’s global image and strengthen cultural soft power.
“By providing accurate, multi-dimensional, fair, and vivid reports, we record history, highlight the nation's achievements, and tell the stories of the three regions and the country to the world,” he said.
Cheuk also praised the impressive launch of DeepSeek, a Chinese-developed artificial intelligence model, as a prime example of China’s potential for technological advancement.
“[This] fully reflects the nation's huge potential in science and technology, and shows that the unreasonable sanctions imposed by the United States on China in the fields of computer chips and lithography machines are ineffective and petty,” he said.
Also, he celebrated the success of Ne Zha 2, a mainland Chinese animated blockbuster that has captivated audiences with its storytelling rooted in Chinese mythology.
With international box office revenue surpassing 13 billion yuan, it has become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time globally.
