Former Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying, during a speech on Friday, addressed the economic uncertainties facing Hong Kong and suggested that leveraging local strengths in testing and certification could help alleviate youth concerns about their future.

His remarks were part of a press conference organized by the Maxim's Group, which announced its first-ever collaboration with the Qinghai Provincial People's Government.
This partnership aims to introduce ingredients from the pristine Qinghai Plateau to Hong Kong's culinary scene. A total of 22 restaurants within the Maxim's Group, including well-known establishments like Maxim’s Palace, Jade Garden, Serenade, and Jasmine, will feature 13 Qinghai-themed dishes until March 31.
Additionally, customers will have the opportunity to purchase Qinghai-originating products such as wolfberries and quinoa at these locations.

During the event, Leung, who is also the vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, highlighted Hong Kong's role as an international trade and service center.
He expressed his hope that through this collaboration, Hong Kong could become a major trading partner for Qinghai's local ingredients.
He emphasized that the quality of these ingredients would gain greater international confidence through Hong Kong's renowned inspection and certification services.
Leung also shared his long-term vision of expanding such collaborations to other provinces, aiming to enhance the high-quality development of the mainland while securing worry-free career and employment opportunities for Hong Kong's youth.
He reiterated his belief that capitalizing on Hong Kong's strengths in testing, certification, trade, and branding could play a crucial role in addressing the current economic perplexities faced by many in the society.
