The digital travel platform Booking.com revealed its list of "10 most welcoming" cities and regions for 2025, providing a comprehensive guide for travelers to make adventure plans.
This year's Most Welcoming Places on Earth was determined by almost 1.7 million accommodation partners across 212 countries and regions which received Traveller Review Awards.
Sigiriya, a city in the centre of Sri Lanka where natural beauty and rich history coexist, has been named in the top five spots of the "Most Welcoming City on Earth" in 2025.
The iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, invites visitors to climb for breathtaking views. Meanwhile, the nearby village is renowned for its fabrics and handicrafts such as batiks, ornamental pots and handloom textiles.
Cazorla in Spain, Urubici in Brazil, Taupo in New Zealand, and St. Augustine in the United States are among the rest in the top five notches.
The remaining cities on the list included Orvieto in Italy, Manizales in Colombia, Quedlinburg in Germany, Ko Lanta in Thailand and Chester in the United Kingdom.
In addition, the company also disclosed "2025's Most Welcoming Regions on Earth," with the Osijek-Baranja in Croatia topping the list, known for its well-preserved historical monuments that depict mixed medieval culture.
Other regions on the list are Kakheti in Georgia, Madeira in Portugal, The Misiones in Argentina, Graubünden in Switzerland, South Australia in Australia, Bretagne in France and Baja California in Mexico, Kien Giang in Vietnam and Drenthe in the Netherlands.
Regina Chan, area manager of Taiwan and Hong Kong at Booking.com, stated the company will continue collaborating with partners to offer world-class travel experiences and necessities for tourists to enjoy an unforgettable vacation.
