Runners celebrate creativity and self-expression at the Standard Chartered marathon

Runners showcased their creativity at the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon on Sunday, with one standout participant from Beijing donning Joker makeup to “express true self” on the race track.

Despite the chilly morning temperatures of 11 degrees Celsius, many athletes opted for sports vests and shorts, declaring the winter cold to be “perfect conditions” for their run.

Among the vibrant displays, some participants dressed as the Chinese god of wealth, joyfully holding gold ingots to spread Lunar New Year blessings along the route. 

Others embraced their favorite characters, including Wukong from the Black Myth: Wukong video game, as well as beloved anime icons like Pikachu from Pokémon and Luffy from One Piece.
