The Program was launched on Monday and seeks to support low-income and non-ethnic Chinese families facing financial challenges. It aims to alleviate the pressures that force parents to balance work and family obligations.
The Program aims to foster family harmony and resilience by offering a variety of activities designed for both young people and their families. That includes mentoring workshops pairing underprivileged youth with mentors from diverse professional backgrounds, helping them broaden their social networks and tap into new resources.
Family bond-building, adventure-based and volunteering activities such as local cultural tours, will provide more opportunities for families to spend quality time with each other.
The Program will kick off in February next year, aiming to support 2,400 disadvantaged young people and their parents, and assist 1,200 individuals who benefit from community services.
Officiating at the Program's launch event were Deputy Director of the Liaison Office Liu Guangyuan, Chief Secretary Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Deputy Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR Fang Jianming, Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak Mei-kuen, HKJC Deputy Chairman Martin Liao Cheung-kong and Chairperson of the Hong Kong United Youth Association Lam Ho-yi and other guests.
