Secretary for Security Chris Tang Ping-keung said the officers have contacted more than 300 people who had reported the matter, and attempts are being made to determine the identity of the platform operator and the flow of funds.
"Anyone involved in the case but not staying in Hong Kong would still be under investigation," said Tang. "We have a mechanism that requests foreign law enforcement agencies to assist in the investigation if needed."
He reiterates that the police will investigate based on the evidence and will do their best to pursue the liability of those involved.
"In short, we will use all measures to ensure that those who break the law will get the legal consequences they deserve," Tang added.
