NWD joins hands with 17 companies to cultivate next-gen talents

The crowd-donation platform Share for Good, founded by New World Development, launched a local talent nurturing program to assist over 100 youths from Small Group Homes in their career planning.

The "Future Step-Up" program targets youngsters aged 14 to 25 who are current or former residents at Small Group Homes.

It has received support from various parties, including the Chevalier Group and 16 innovative companies, as well as 5 NGOs, including Yan Chai Hospital, Po Leung Kuk, The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong, S.K.H. St Christopher's Home and Precious Blood Children's Village. 

The program introduced the pioneering concept of "unlimited work trial" to encourage participants to explore various emerging and popular industries, such as cloud farming, low-carbon tourism, and social media platform promotion, to broaden their horizons.

Through valuable internship opportunities and job explorations, participants can gain insights into new workplace trends, experience different industries' daily operations and corporate culture, and help them set aspirations and plan diverse careers. 

"Future Step-Up" also offers job guidance that aligns with the latest trends, including collaborations with the professional networking platform LinkedIn to share big data in the workplace and the utilization of generative artificial intelligence with youngsters. 

LinkedIn will also offer free Premium accounts to participants, allowing them to learn over 20,000 professional courses online and obtain resume certifications. 

Furthermore, the Youth Employment Division of the Labour Department is introducing its comprehensive and personalized employment services to participants, enabling youths to understand themselves and their work aptitudes better. 

The Human Resources Department of New World Development and the Chevalier Group will separately provide various practical skills, including workplace etiquette, resume crafting, and mock interviews, while HSBC Hong Kong will share personal wealth management knowledge to prepare young individuals comprehensively for their future careers.
