HK fencing team grab one gold and two bronzes in Hangzhou Asian Games

Hong Kong's top fencer Edgar Cheung Ka-long snatched a gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Sunday, the first Asiad gold for the city's fencing team and the second gold at the Games this year. 

Cheung beat the 28-year-old China's fencer Chen Haiwei 15-2 in the men's foil final. With the newly grabbed Asian Games gold, Cheung had set a milestone of getting gold medals from all fencing competitions in Asia.

Ryan Choi Chun-yin won a bronze medal in the same event, as he lost to Chen during the quarter-final.

Vivian Kong Man-wai also clinched a bronze medal in the women's epee on Sunday after losing to South Korean fencer Song Sera.

The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung Yun-hung congratulated the trio on winning medals at the Asian Games.

"Their achievements make our high hopes come true," Yeung said. "I am very pleased with their excellent performance, as well as their demonstration of the demeanour of great athletes." 

As of Sunday, the Hong Kong delegation has won two golds and five bronzes at the Asiad.
