The furniture store advertised its new design on mainland social media and e-commerce platform Xiaohongshu last Thursday, showing photos of the “bedroom” that was built as part of a cabinet measured around 2.4 meters tall.
The upper part of the furniture is a tiny cubbyhole measuring 68 centimeters wide, 95 centimeters tall, and 194 centimeters in depth. According to the post, the “cabinet/bedroom” is slapped with a price tag of more than RMB10,000.
Netizens online have slammed the store for designing such inhumane furniture, noting that the “bedroom” is even worse than sleeping in a coffin, with minimal ventilation through the tiny gaps.
Some also wrote that the “bedroom” is only a bit larger than a dog cage.
However, some said helpers having such a personal space is already considered lucky as many have to sleep on hard floors without a mattress or a bed.
