Hong Kong wins gold in men’s team foil

Hong Kong won the men's team foil competition after beating France 45-33 to earn a gold medal in the Chengdu FISU University World Games.

The team maintained a strong lead after finishing the first two bouts 5-4 and 10-5, as members of the two teams took swipes and jabs at one another.

Hong Kong’s golden boy Edgar Cheung Ka-long scored the final point to secure the win with a quick, clean stab at his opponent's torso.

The Hong Kong team had advanced to the finals after overcoming team China with a 45-35 victory.

Separately, Hong Kong Baptist University congratulates Cheung Ka-long for his extraordinary feat of winning the second gold medal at the Games with his teammates. 

Cheung won a gold medal in the men's foil individual fencing event last Friday.

He was one of the scholarship awardees under HKBU's Talented Athletes Direct Admission Scheme in 2022. He is currently studying in the Bachelor of Physical Education and Recreation Management program.
