More categories of fresh food can be imported via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) starting next Saturday (July 1) during the designated period, said the Centre for Food Safety.
Apart from the Man Kam To Control Point, the cross-border drivers can now deliver fresh food products, including frozen and chilled meat, egg, milk, vegetable and fruit, through the mega bridge between 9pm and 5am starting July 1.
The inspection procedures at HZMB will be similar to those for vehicles importing fresh produce via Man Kam To, such as examining import documents and sampling of fresh food for testing.
The spokesman of the CFS emphasized the arrangement of goods vehicles carrying livestock by land from the mainland has not changed, which means they must enter Hong Kong via Man Kam To for inspection.
Authorities have allowed goods vehicles carrying fresh aquatic products and frozen and chilled poultry to enter Hong Kong via the mega bridge since December 2019 and June 2022, respectively.
