Leung said her brother didn't suffer from any chronic disease and just received his first dose of Covid vaccine in February.
Following the infection, her brother developed only mild symptoms and underwent home isolation as instructed by authorities. Yet, his condition deteriorated suddenly and was rushed to the emergency room and later declared dead.
Leung felt sorry for her late brother and sighed she didn't have the chance to offer him any help for she was not informed of his infection in time. She hoped infected patients will actively seek help from others, including their relatives, family doctors or even lawmakers and district councilors.
She criticized the government for not allocating medical resources appropriately and suggested concentrating fire to treat high-risk patients, like chronic disease patients, unvaccinated elderly people and children.
Leung underlined that these high-risk patients must receive immediate treatment regardless of their condition and must not be allowed to stay at home.
She referred the opinions of health experts and urged the government to impose a citywide lockdown as soon as possible, granting citizens exemption only to provide necessary and emergency services.
She recommended distributing rapid antigen testing kits to the public as well so that they need not to go out and wait in line at testing stations.
