The revelation came after Wong, who will run in the New Territories North West geographical constituency in the coming Legislative Council election on December 19, made declarations about his election advertisements.
In a post he submitted to online forum LIHKG on Sunday, Wong called himself “Siu Mui”, a Chinese term which translates as “little sister”. He told netizens that “she” felt a bit nervous about debating with other contenders in “her” first election forum.
The netizen said “she” will not expose “her” identity and all questions fired by netizens would be answered.
When asked about “her” political stand, Wong replied “I feel like I am in the 'yellow' camp.”
He added that he was not brave in voicing his opinions, and said the pro-establishment camp is now the most vocal.
After a day's interaction with netizens, the true identity of “Siu Mui” was finally revealed after Wong reported all his election advertisements to authorities.
In response to media inquiries, Wong said he believed he could communicate with people who have different political stances on the forum, where he could absorb information and enrich himself.
He continued that listening to opinions on the internet is an essential part of gauging public opinion.
Also running in the same geographical constituency are Holden Chow Ho-ding from the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong; and Michael Tien Puk-sun from Roundtable.
