Legislative Council election will be held on December 19, the government announced along a bill of electoral changes to be tabled to Legislative Council tomorrow. The geographical constituency will also be increased to 10 from five.
The Legco election was scheduled for September last year, but was postponed due to the pandemic.
The government announced that instead of September this year, it will be held at year-end.
According to the announcement, the Election Committee election will be held on September 19, while the Chief Executive election will be scheduled on March 27 next year.
Meanwhile, the territories of Hong Kong will be divided into 10 constituencies, with each constituency returning 2 members through direct elections.
The New Territories will be divided into five geographical constituencies, namely New Territories South East, New Territories North, New Territories North West, New Territories South West, and New Territories North East.
Kowloon will be divided into three geographical constituencies, including Kowloon East, Kowloon West, and Kowloon Central.
While the remaining two will be Hong Kong Island East and Hong Kong Island West.
