A 62-year-old man has passed away after receiving the Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, marking the 12th death under the city’s mass inoculation drive.
The man was a security guard in Kwun Tong Hamden Court. He fainted while working yesterday morning. He was sent to Union Christian Hospital, where he was later certified dead.
He was said to have high blood pressure, hyperlipidemia, abnormal blood sugar and obesity.
The man received the first Sinovac jab in a Kowloon Bay community centre about three weeks ago. He did not feel unwell after vaccination and planned to take the second jab very soon.
Department of Health has contacted the Housing Authority for more information for investigation and evaluation. The case will be referred to the Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following Covid-19 Immunisation.
Until now, Hong Kong recorded 12 deaths after receiving coronavirus vaccines, of which ten of them received Sinovac jabs, and the other two received BioNTech vaccines.
