The story of Angela Tsao – the first Tour Host
Angela Tsao joined Hong Kong Disneyland Resort right from the start in 2005, and began to provide guests with information and stories about Disney. She is the first Tour Host in the park.
“Looking back to when I commenced working in the park, I would never have thought this job could turn into a career of mine for this long,” Tsao enthuses. “I really relish the wonderful opportunities to work in various departments.”
Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has fulfilled her dream of trying new things and broadening her horizons.
As a member of the first batch of Cultural Representatives in 2008, she completed a year of work exchange in Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, USA; and she has also tried her hand in Disneyland in Shanghai. From Guest Relations, she has moved on to Special Activities and Tour Service; currently she is a member of the Corporate Citizenship team.
“The Cultural Representative scheme in 2008 has exposed me to so many of the park’s hidden gems. It has also given me a sense of belonging to the park and a much deeper appreciation of its culture,” Tsao adds. “Among my friends, I am known as the‘Disney Encyclopedia’ because there is so much attention to details in any story or facility in the park.”
Disney is a place you never get tired of, says Tsao, because it is ever-evolving. “There are new developments and happenings every day, and the park encourages each and every staff member to optimize their talents and contributions,” she says.
Tsao strongly believes that Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is the land of dreams and is committed to sharing them. From a bubbling young girl to a caring mother of two boys today,
Tsao treasures countless precious memories of her life in the park. Looking back to her growth with the park, she reckons it is a good story to share with her kids to encourage them to chase after their dreams.
“Mr. Walt Disney built the first park with a vision to bring joy to children. But today, he has not only put a smile on the face of kids all around the world, but also created a magical land of hope and joy. His unremitting efforts make me understand that, with dedication, dreams come true,” stresses Tsao.
The Castle of Magical Dreams
Starting November 21, 2020, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will kick start its 15th anniversary celebration with the opening of the reimagined castle – the Castle of Magical Dreams – it is the first of its kind in Disney’s history that tells 13 stories of well-loved Disney Princesses and Queens.
To mark the occasion, guests can visit the ‘Building a Dream: The Magic Behind a Disney Castle’ exhibition, and embark on a visual journey that goes behind the magic. Guests can discover the Walt Disney Imagineering process of reimagining the beloved castle, and gain insights into the transformation from concept and design development, to the innovative building techniques, interpretation of the Disney Princesses and Queens’ stories in partnership with Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios, and upcoming entertainment offerings.
Starting the same day, a special ‘Glimpse into the Magic’ tour of the Castle of Magical Dreams will be available to guests, as they venture through the castle with an audio narration from local celebrity and Disney fan, Karena Lam. Lam will guide guests to appreciate the architectural designs of the towers, turrets, domes, spires and finials, and see how their various colors, icons, patterns, and cultural features were inspired by the Princesses and Queens.
To celebrate the park’s 15th birthday celebration, guests can gather even more joy and wonders at the entrance of the park with a limited edition 15th anniversary-themed button, which will be distributed to guests from November 21, while supplies last.
