Bankruptcy filings soar to 2,079

The number of bankruptcy filings have soared to  2,079 in May, the highest since May 2003.

Filings surged by 345.5 percent from six  in April. For the first five months, the total number was 3,611, up by 12.6 percent year-on-year.

The cases of compulsory winding-up and bankruptcy were 68 last month, the highest since July 2009. It  added one more case, as compared to April. For the first five months, the total cases were 146, down by 15.6 percent year-on-year.
