Beijing, Shanghai make travelers pay for medical costs, quarantine

Beijing municipal government official Chen Bei made it clear that inbound travelers need to pay for the 14-day quarantine expenses themselves, Xinhua reports.

Both Beijing and Shanghai said those diagnosed with the new coronavirus after returning from overseas have to pay for treatment if they are not covered by either the country's medical insurance or commercial ones.

Those who have difficulties may receive medical aid, officials said.
