Taobao and Tmall president Jiang Fan suspended as top talent, state media says

China's state media reported Wednesday that Alibaba Group's Taobao and Tmall president Jiang Fan was suspended from identification as a high-level talent in Hangzhou, local authorities said after receiving public complaints that applicants should follow laws, regulations and moral standards.

The Communist Party publication, Global Times tweeted the news, citing unnamed reports.

Late April, Tmall demoted Fan to group vice president due to an incident that involved his wife and which occurred outside of work. The group has also removed Jiang as a member of its partnership committee, a group of fewer than 40 executives expected to uphold the firm’s mission, vision and values, state media Yicai Global reported at the time.

Jiang’s wife warned web celebrity and fashion influencer Zhang Dayi not to mess with her man on April 17. Jiang apologized for the incident the following day and invited the company to probe him for bringing shame upon the company’s reputation, Yicai Global said.
