Haughey, who won two bronze medals at the Paris Olympics, returned to Hong Kong on Tuesday and was greeted with a warm reception at the airport.
The "flying fish" said she enjoyed the Olympics and commented on the great atmosphere, adding that she was touched to see the Hong Kong flag and Hongkongers at the venue while thanking them for their support.
Haughey mentioned that she was born, grew up, and learned to swim in Hong Kong and it was an honor to compete as a Hong Kong representative.
She said she is aware of the expectations placed on her, but she is firm in her plans and goals. She aims to compete to the best of her ability, believing that the process is more important than the outcome.
She added that as long as she gives her best during the competition, she has no regrets about how she competed.
The four-time Olympic medalist plans to share part of her reward bonus with her support team. She acknowledged that without their help, she would not have achieved her results.
When asked about retirement, she stated that she has not made any decisions yet. There are still many upcoming events, including the World Championship in October, for which she will prepare after taking some rest.
However, she is not planning on being a coach after retirement, as she claimed that she does not have the qualifications required for coaching, which include in-depth knowledge and patience. Instead, she is thinking of becoming a psychologist.
