The station will serve as an intermediate station between Tin Shui Wai Station and Siu Hong Station on the Tuen Ma Line, mainly serving the future Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen new development area to the west of the Northern Metropolis.
The government spokesman said the new station will provide an alternative transport option to the nearby residents, as it will take at least 20 to 25 minutes to head to the Tin Shui Wai and Siu Hong Stations using road transport during rush hours.
After the Hung Shui Kiu Station commences service, the same journey by rail is expected to be shortened to about four minutes.
The spokesman said the government and the MTR Corporation had continuously introduced and exchanged information regarding the Hung Shui Kiu Station with various stakeholders, such as rural committee members and district councilors.
The plan for Hung Shui Kiu Station was gazetted in February last year.
The spokesman said they would continue to maintain contact with the stakeholders and minimize the disturbances to the environment to acceptable levels in accordance with the environmental permit.
