As the cool November breeze drifts across Victoria Harbour, one of Hong Kong’s most beloved annual traditions will once again light up the Central skyline.
The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra (HK Phil) is bringing back Swire Symphony Under The Stars — a free outdoor concert that turns the city’s harbourfront into a grand open-air concert hall — on November 26, 2025.
This year’s edition promises to be a feast for both the eyes and ears. Under the baton of world-renowned composer-conductor Tan Dun, who also serves as Hong Kong’s Ambassador for Cultural Promotion, the evening’s programme will explore the beauty of nature through music — full of colour, rhythm, and imagination.
HK Phil Principals Richard Bamping (cello) and George Lomdaridze (double bass) will take on the whimsical roles of the Swan and the Wolf, while young rising stars Angela Chan (violin) and Lin Zhe (percussion) will bring fresh energy to the stage, performing works inspired by the song of the lark and the epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon score.
The night will conclude in spectacular fashion with Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, accompanied by a dazzling fireworks display above the harbour.
For many in Hong Kong, Symphony Under The Stars is more than just a concert — families, couples, and music lovers of all ages spread out on picnic mats, sharing food and laughter as they watch the city’s iconic skyline glow to the sound of the orchestra.
Free tickets will once again be available through an online ballot, with registration open from 10am on October 30 to 7pm on November 4 at the designated webpage https://suts.hkphil.org/reg. Each applicant can apply for up to four tickets, and results will be announced on November 7.
For those unable to attend in person, the concert will be live-streamed on the HK Phil website, Facebook page, YouTube channel, and Swire’s social media platforms — ensuring that the joy of music reaches audiences far beyond the Harbourfront.
