Nadeen Ayoub, 27, will make history as the first Palestinian woman to compete in the Miss Universe pageant, set for November 21 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Miss Universe Organization confirmed Ayoub’s participation on Sunday, praising her as an advocate and model embodying resilience and determination.

Ayoub, crowned Miss Palestine in 2022, will join contestants from over 130 countries at the 74th Miss Universe final. “We welcome Ms. Ayoub to represent Palestine alongside global delegates, celebrating diversity and women’s empowerment,” the organization stated.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Ayoub expressed her intent to represent Palestinian strength: “As Palestine endures heartbreak, especially in Gaza, I carry the voice of a resilient people. We are more than suffering — we are hope and the heartbeat of a homeland.”
The inclusion comes amid escalating criticism of Israel’s war in Gaza, where the Palestinian Ministry of Health reports 62,004 deaths since October 2023, mostly women and children, though figures do not differentiate civilians from Hamas fighters. The United Nations supports these claims.
Over 145 countries now advocate for Palestinian statehood recognition. Australia, Canada, and France plan to back this at the United Nations General Assembly in September, while the United Kingdom ties recognition to Israel meeting conditions like a Gaza ceasefire.
