Swinging with home advantage, Hong Kong’s golfers will begin their quest for four gold medals at the 15th National Games golf competition starting on Thursday.
Taking place at the Fanling Golf Course, the four-day event will see top golfers vying for medals in men's and women’s individual and team competitions.
Speaking at a press conference, Jason Hak Shun-yat, the most experienced player on the Hong Kong team, expressed his commitment to sharing his knowledge of the Fanling course with his teammates, calling it his "most precious asset."
"We have got each other's backs, which allows the team to play freely and focus on the game,” Hak added.
With the matches ahead, the 18-year-old golfer Sophie Han expressed confidence in staying unhurried, citing her enhanced skills and growing composure.
“Golf is an individual sport, it is more important to overcome the challenges posed by the course and the environment, rather than comparing myself to others,” Han said.
Meanwhile, Asian Games gold medalist Taichi Kho, expressed his desire to perform at his best and aim for a medal.
Additionally, he described the Fanling Golf Course as one of the best, noting it is maintained in perfect condition after competitions at Hong Kong Open.
