China’s top tennis star Zheng Qinwen withdraws from National Games due to injury concerns

China's top-ranked tennis player Zheng Qinwen has withdrawn from the 15th National Games due to her injuries, the Hubei sports delegation announced on Wednesday.

Zheng underwent right elbow surgery after Wimbledon this year and subsequently missed the US Open and many other events. 

She returned to participate in the China Tennis Open in September; however, she withdrew from the third round due to injury. She then announced the early end of the WTA season and has been recovering from her injuries.

She returned and participated in the National Games opening ceremony and was the flag bearer of the Hubei delegation.
