Videos circulating online show the Mercedes driver confronting a BYD electric car over a traffic dispute. In one clip, the Mercedes driver angrily exited the vehicle, shouting at the other motorist while a female passenger argued: “We saw you in front of us, we didn’t do anything to you.”
In subsequent footage, the BYD driver recorded the Mercedes vehicle with a phone as it moved forward. The Mercedes driver reportedly accelerated toward the filming motorist, causing a minor collision before driving off after maneuvering around the scene.
The incident occurred near No. 41 Shilian Road, Panyu, and appears to have been triggered by a disagreement over right of way. Online commenters criticized the driver’s behavior, with remarks such as, “Shaming all Hong Kong drivers,” and “This is basically attempted murder,” while others warned that traffic surveillance in mainland China would make escaping the consequences difficult.
Authorities have not confirmed any legal action in connection with the incident.
