Asia financiers to focus on multilateral cooperation

The Asian Financial Forum 2024, featuring a Nobel laureate alongside financial heavyweights, will take place next month in Hong Kong.

And the city has partnered with Dubai to hold a climate finance conference next August.

The financial forum is jointly organized by the Hong Kong SAR government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Held under the theme of "Multilateral Cooperation for a Shared Tomorrow," the event will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai from January 24 to 25, 2024.

The first major international financial event of 2024 in the region, the forum will gather over a hundred financial leaders, policymakers, and business executives to explore topics including the global economic outlook, opportunities in Mainland China, investment prospects, green finance, financial technology, and multilateral cooperation.

Luanne Lim, chairperson of the AFF steering committee and chief executive, Hong Kong, of HSBC, emphasized the theme of the upcoming AFF, highlighting the crucial role of fostering multilateral cooperation.

The event will showcase Jeffrey Sachs, president of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, and Douglas Diamond, the Nobel laureate in economic sciences in 2022, who will be invited to share their insights.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Financial Services Authority and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority have announced a partnership to explore ways to enhance policy and regulatory responses to foster and facilitate climate finance in the Middle East and Asia.

The primary initiative within this collaboration is the forthcoming Joint Climate Finance Conference scheduled for autumn 2024 in Hong Kong. The conference aims to examine shared opportunities and challenges in expediting the flow of transition financing in the Middle East and Asia.
