The Hong Kong Bar Association (HKBA) expressed deep sorrow on Wednesday over the passing of Senior Counsel Graham A. Harris and extended sincere condolences to his family.

“Mr. Graham A. Harris, S.C., a giant in the Hong Kong criminal Bar, who made extraordinary contributions to upholding the rule of law; dedicated to nurturing the younger generation, has been a role model for the barristers’ profession,” said José Antonio Maurellet, the chairman of the HKBA.
Maurellet praised Harris for devoting his entire life to the legal profession. “The HKBA and the legal community will forever cherish his memory and carry on his spirit of professionalism, dedication to the rule of law and selfless contributions.”
HKBA has conferred the title of Life Member on Harris last month in recognition of his outstanding service rendered to the administration of justice, and legal profession in Hong Kong, including his exceptional contributions to nurturing young barristers.
Liberty Chambers announced on Wednesday that Harris, one of the Chambers co-founders, has passed away at the age of 75.
Harris obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree at the College of Law, Chancery Lane, London and was admitted to the Middle Temple in 1975 and to the Hong Kong Bar in 1985. He served in the then Attorney General's Chambers from 1984 to 1995. His practice is mainly in the criminal area.
