The Peak Tram fare adjustment has come into effect, resulting in a significant increase for children and senior citizens, who will now experience a nearly 40 percent rise in ticket prices.
The updated fare structure apply to all four ticket categories. The round-trip fare for children and seniors has escalated from HK$54 to HK$75, reflecting an increase of approximately 38.9 percent. Conversely, the standard adult round-trip fare has seen a more moderate increase of 7.4 percent, rising from HK$108 to HK$116.
For single tickets, adults will see a fare hike of 7.9 percent from HK$76 to HK$82, while the fares for children and seniors have gone up from HK$38 to HK$52, marking a jump of 36.8 percent.
Additionally, a popular package that includes both the Peak Tram ride and admission to Sky Terrace 428 has also increased by over 8 percent, now priced at HK$182.
The tram operator stated that passengers can still buy tickets at the old price via the company’s official website or WeChat mini program on or before December 31. Notably, the pre-purchased tickets will be valid for use until next month.
Among the tourists visiting The Peak, one mainland traveler described the new fare as "relatively high for locals" but still acceptable for tourists.
Echoing a common sentiment, Wong from Harbin remarked, "It's acceptable... Especially since we’ve come all this way, we might as well take a look."
