A 36-year-old man with a prior voyeurism conviction was sentenced to four weeks in prison on Monday for recording eight upskirt videos using a mini camera at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Leung Man-hay, who described himself as a clerk, previously pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful recording or observation of intimate parts.
The court heard that Leung was caught by security personnel at Hong Kong Disneyland using a mini camera connected to his phone for upskirting videos on June 14.
Following a police investigation, authorities discovered a total of eight separate upskirt videos on Leung’s phone, featuring different unidentified individuals.
The videos ranged in length from a few seconds to several dozen seconds.
Leung appeared before the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts this morning, where his defense requested leniency, citing a positive probation report.
They noted that Leung has enrolled in the Caritas Specialized Treatment and Prevention Project Against Sexual Violence (PASV) and is actively undergoing treatment at the West Kowloon Psychiatric Centre after recognizing his mental health issues.
The defense further stated that Leung, who had spent 18 days in remand, deeply regretted his actions and was committed to avoiding future offenses.
However, Principal Magistrate Don So Man-lung noted the premeditated nature of using a miniature camera and Leung's history, imposing the four-week jail term.
