Authorities will begin collecting concrete core samples from Wang Fuk Court buildings as early as next week for detailed structural analysis following the deadly No.five-alarm fire in Tai Po.
The Housing Bureau's independent review team, alongside structural engineering experts and Housing Department professionals, will extract samples while coordinating with emergency repair contractors, police and fire services to reinforce units with more serious structural damage.
The review team has also collected protective netting samples from Fung Wah Estate in Chai Wan and Yee Kok Court in Sham Shui Po, obtaining contractor test certificates for further follow-up.
Protective netting is being removed from four Home Ownership Scheme estates - Sui Wo Court in Sha Tin, Ching Lai Court in Sham Shui Po, Yee Kok Court in Sham Shui Po and On Kay Court in Kwun Tong - with Fung Wah Estate in Chai Wan also beginning removal operations. The review team will monitor progress at these locations.
Regarding public housing estates, 15 currently have partial large-scale renovation projects with protective netting, all of which will be completely removed.
Meanwhile, the Labour Department continues inspecting fire prevention facilities and emergency arrangements at building renovation sites with large scaffolding. As of 4pm Tuesday, 175 construction sites had been inspected with 92 written warnings, 49 improvement notices and 13 prosecutions issued to enhance worker safety.
