The newly formed Task Force on Supporting Mainland Enterprises in Going Global has held its first steering committee meeting, marking a major step in the government’s initiative to position Hong Kong as the preferred springboard for mainland companies expanding overseas.
The task force, launched on October 6, was established following a directive in the 2025 Policy Address. It aims to consolidate the functions of Hong Kong’s external economic and trade offices into a unified one-stop platform that provides seamless support for mainland enterprises venturing abroad.
Chaired by Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau Ying-wah, the steering committee brings together senior officials and institutional leaders, including the Permanent Secretaries for Commerce and Economic Development and for Innovation, Technology and Industry, as well as the Executive Director of the Trade Development Council, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and the Director-General of Investment Promotion.
At its inaugural meeting, the committee approved its terms of reference and discussed the task force’s future work strategy and upcoming promotional activities.
Yau said the task force would strengthen cross-bureau, cross-department, cross-institution, and cross-sector collaboration to provide comprehensive, efficient support for mainland enterprises.
He expressed confidence that the initiative would deliver all-round assistance to mainland companies seeking to expand globally, while also injecting new economic momentum into Hong Kong’s development.
