Youth hostel TN Residence offers one month rent-free move-in for young adults

The TN Residence, the sixth project under the Subsidy Scheme for Using Hotels and Guesthouses as Youth Hostels, is offering a one-month rent-free promotion for successful applicants who apply by the end of September.

Approved by the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB), the project is open to Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 to 30, aiming to support young adults in achieving independent living.

Located at 280 Tung Chau Street, Sham Shui Po, the residence provides 676 hostel places across three room types, including studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments.

The units range from 265 to 412 square feet, with monthly rents between HK$4,310 and HK$7,840. 

Each unit features a private bathroom and balcony, with some offering sea views. Residents also have access to shared amenities, including a gym, music studio, and barbecue area.

Since June 30, a total of 950 applications have been received, of which 100 applicants have been approved. The first batch of tenants have moved in from July 15.

The project is anticipated to achieve over 60 percent occupancy by year-end.  

Meanwhile, the HYAB will establish a physical interaction platform for Youth Link members at the nearby Nam Cheong District Community Centre and Tung Chau Street Temporary Market.

“It is envisaged that the additional activity space for young people would create synergy with the youth hostel project,” said an HYAB spokesperson.
