The tragedy unfolded at around 6am on Avenida da Amizade when the private car, carrying seven people - five men and two women - lost control near the building’s Reservoir Viewing Stand.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene to find the vehicle's front end completely crushed, with debris from shattered railings, road signs, and stone steps scattered across the crash site. The impact was so severe it ruptured a water pipe and damaged a stone wall.
Among the deceased is the 20-year-old female driver and three male passengers. The three surviving victims, all suffering critical injuries, were transported to Kiang Wu Hospital and Conde S. Januário Hospital for emergency treatment.
Authorities are investigating whether overloading contributed to the fatal accident.
Preliminary reports indicate the vehicle had departed from a parking space on Rua de Bruxelas, traveled along Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, and entered Avenida da Amizade via an overpass before the catastrophic collision occurred.
