Drainage Services Department reports flooding at Chai Wan Road roundabout

Hong Kong's Drainage Services Department (DSD) has reported flooding at the Chai Wan Road roundabout as the city grapples with an active Black Rainstorm Warning and Thunderstorm Warning Tuesday morning.

Emergency response teams from both the DSD and Highways Department are currently working to address the situation, said the DSD.

The DSD revealed that after its Emergency Control Centre was activated this morning, approximately 110 emergency response teams were deployed across the territory.

These teams are inspecting and clearing blockages at around 240 known flood-prone locations throughout Hong Kong.

Authorities have issued urgent warnings to the public as the intense rainfall continues. 

A DSD spokesperson cautioned that the torrential rain may cause rivers to rise rapidly, strongly advising residents to stay away from waterways.

The department has called on citizens to report blocked drains or flooding incidents through its 24-hour hotline (2300 1110), promising prompt response to all emergency calls.
