Hong Kong Qianfan Technology has joined forces with the University of Hong Kong and tech giant Baidu to launch an AI-focused talent training course, another initiative spearheaded by the company’s chairman Karson Choi Ka-tsan, following his earlier HK$100 million donation to establish the Karson Choi College.
Innovation and technology are pivotal to Hong Kong’s future. To cultivate tomorrow’s leaders, Choi previously donated HK$100 million to HKU to establish the Karson Choi College, aiming to develop leaders with both technological vision and social responsibility.
It has since hosted high-table dinners and appreciation ceremonies, gathering elites from various fields and marking the official debut.
Aligned with the college’s core values of “Innovation, Creativity, and Entrepreneurship,” Choi facilitated Qianfan Technology’s first university partnership with HKU, offering students diverse training to enhance their soft skills.
The specialized one-day program, offered under the Shanghai-Hong Kong University Alliance Leadership Training Camp, brought together around 40 outstanding young participants from Shanghai and Hong Kong.
Commitment to Nurturing Future Leaders
The company invited top AI experts from Baidu AI Cloud to teach in Hong Kong, helping students explore real-world applications of large-scale AI models, master prompt engineering and no-code techniques, and develop innovative thinking and hands-on skills.
“This marks the first step in our deepened collaboration with HKU. We aim to equip students with cutting-edge AI knowledge and practical experience,” said Director Rachel Chan.
“We look forward to expanding our partnership with HKU through more innovative courses, driving the widespread adoption of AI technology,” she added.
In late 2024, the company further established the Hong Kong STEAM-AI Academy, leveraging advanced technologies to foster new quality productive forces and provide STEM education for the younger generation.
