Following the fatal slashing in Fo Tan yesterday, police launched an operation in a Mong Kok building where Police Tactical Unit (PTU) officers were deployed with shields to search for the suspects.
Authorities suspected the two knifemen have been hiding in the King Hing building on Argyle Street, prompting a large number of officers equipped with demolition tools and shields to conduct searches.
While police maintained vigilance at the building's entrance, multiple PTU officers were observed entering the building this afternoon (Mar 17), wearing stab-proof jackets and helmets, along with shields and demolition tools.
Additionally, the officers cordoned off the building's entrances and back alleys, drawing a crowd of onlookers.
Meanwhile, three family members and friends of the deceased visited the Fu Shan Public Mortuary to identify the body around 10am today (Mar 17), accompanied by four anti-triad unit officers.
The incident took place at approximately 5pm when a 52-year-old man, surnamed Tam, was slashed to death by two men at the corner of Sui Wo Road and Lai Wo Lane.
The deceased was reportedly unemployed and had ties with a triad group in Tsuen Wan, but had recently joined another triad, which operates in the Fo Tan area.
The two attackers are described as being approximately 20 years old, dressed in black jackets, and wearing hats and gloves during the assault.
After the incident, the police located the taxi involved in Kwun Tong heading towards Tseung Kwan O and intercepted it near the Tseung Kwan O Tunnel exit.
It was reported that there were three female passengers in the taxi at the time, but police believe they are not connected to the case after the investigation, suggesting that the suspects exited the vehicle elsewhere.
