This year's theme for the French-speaking world is "Francophonie avec Elles" (Francophonie with Women), which aims to honor women's achievements and stories in their country while inspiring the next generation.
One of the event highlights would be the first-ever Francophonie Gastronomic Fair at the Fringe Club from 4pm to 9pm on Saturday (Mar 15). It will feature a variety of dishes by caterers, restaurants, and wine merchants all over the city so that guests can explore the cultural diversity on the plates.
Apart from sampling various specialties from French, Swiss, West African and Belgian cuisines, guests can participate in interactive workshops and wine tasting throughout the afternoon.
While admission to the fair is free, workshop registration is required.
Another new feature this year will be the "Hong Kong joue" (Hong Kong plays) festival -- the first board game festival in the French-speaking world in the city.
It will take place on March 22 at the Consulate General of Canada with modern board games such as Sushi Go, Ticket to ride, Azul, Bandido, Codenames, Just One provided and open to all, including non-French speakers and learners of French.
As the Francophonie Festival celebrates the language throughout the month until 29, citizens are encouraged to unlock more discoveries with the French-speaking communities through various events in the coming weeks.
The Festival takes place every year in March and is organized by the French-speaking Consulates (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada).
