The selection criteria of the schools for the annual "The Schools Index" extend beyond academic results and preparation for university entry. Schools are also chosen for their unique ethos, local and international reputation, and their ability to prepare pupils for life beyond academia.
The index also considers other aspects such as technology integration and sustainability efforts. It provides a detailed overview of each school’s curriculum and fees, along with practical information like travel times to local airports.
Carfax Education noted that the five selected private schools in the city are all equipped with spacious campuses to provide ample opportunity for a hive of activity, featuring impressive facilities for teaching and co-curricular activities.
It also said the academic standards for the five schools are extremely high with exceptional pupils to further their studies at leading universities worldwide.
Paul Tough, Principal & CEO of Kellett School, the British International School in Hong Kong, expressed his pride in the school's inclusion in the index, noting it as an honor as the school approaches its 50th anniversary of fostering a love of learning and confidence in its students.
Fiona McKenzie, Head of Education at Carfax Education, highlighted the index's growing importance as a resource for parents worldwide seeking the best educational opportunities for their children. She noted that the index has become increasingly valuable as families become more mobile and can choose to work from anywhere in the world.
Separately, five private schools in the mainland, including Dulwich College Beijing, International School of Beijing, Utahloy International School Guangzhou, Wellington College International Shanghai, and Wycombe Abbey Changzhou also named in the ranking.
