(Video) Man filmed driving with child on his lap arrested

Police said on Wednesday that a 71-year-old man was arrested after he was allegedly caught on tape driving inside a carpark with a young child sitting on his lap in front of the steering wheel.

The 20-second video started circulating online yesterday, showing a white van turning into a parking spot. As the white van passes by, a child can be seen sitting on the driver’s lap, while the child can also be seen trying to turn the steering wheel.

A police spokesman said following an investigation, the man surnamed Lee was arrested at around 9.10 pm yesterday in Tsuen Wan for dangerous driving. He was granted bail and was required to report to the police in early September.

The spokesman also reminded members of the public that the maximum penalty for dangerous driving is three-year imprisonment and a fine of HK$25,000.
