The Lam Tsuen Wishing Square will be closed from the first day to the ninth day of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which is from September 12 to September 20.
The festival is one of the most iconic celebrations during the Chinese New Year, with people visiting the wishing tree in Tai Po where they write their wishes on a placard and tie it to a mandarin - an auspicious fruit - and make wishes by throwing the placards on the tree.
During the period, the wishing tree will be barricaded. The cancellation is the first in the 11 years history of the festival.
