British multinational automobile distributor Inchcape said Hong Kong’s electric vehicles revolution is in full swing, with higher penetration rate in the city.
EVs made up 12.9 percent of all registered vehicles in Hong Kong as of March, while 11 percent of private new car sales were EVs as of late 2024, the company said in its 2024 Sustainability Report.
Supporting this shift, a strategic partnership with Schneider Electric has delivered over 200 EV chargers across 100 locations, advancing the city’s sustainable mobility infrastructure.
Inchcape also launched its first public EV charging station with an integrated payment platform, and it delivered the first MAXUS MIFA EV taxi to support the city's carbon neutrality goals.
“The transformation underway in the automotive industry is unprecedented, driven by rapid development of new technologies, a fast-moving original equipment manufacturer landscape and continued regulatory change," said Duncan Tait, group chief executive at Inchcape.
Against this backdrop, the need for a global transition towards sustainable mobility has become even more important, he added.
