there are plenty of apps to monitor physical wellness today but hardly any for emotional health - which is why Intent, launched on July 11, is such a significant breakthrough.
Supported by Cyberport and mental health professionals, the emotional intelligence mobile app is designed to help users understand and manage their emotions.
Users can tap on the app to address challenges such as anxiety, anger issues, and strained relationships by focusing on three key areas: developing emotional literacy, building emotional mastery, and cultivating connected communities.
Intent works by transforming emotional data and triggers into interactive insight maps. These maps illuminate the connections within individuals' emotional patterns, helping users navigate their emotions with greater understanding and control.
The app is based on naming and identifying emotions, known as affect labeling, can significantly reduce their intensity and duration.
Naming emotions activates the right ventrolateral prefrontal cortex, which helps regulate emotional responses by calming the amygdala, the brain's emotional center.
How Intent works
Trigger categories. Easily identify and select what triggers your emotions from categories like activity, people, places, diet and body.
Primary emotion selection. Choose your primary emotions and set their intensity levels for accurate tracking.
Secondary emotion literacy. Explore and understand complex emotions for better emotional literacy and deeper self-awareness.
Journal entry. Document your thoughts with text, audio, and image entries to reflect on your experiences.
Visual of Intent tree.Watch your emotions light up and complete the tree in seven days to experience the full emotional spectrum.
Insights through emotion and trigger charts. Learn your emotional patterns and visualize your progress.
Intent's Hong Kong-based startup is inviting 50 users to join its early access beta program and be a part of the focus group. Feedback from these testers will directly influence the development of Intent, ensuring that the app meets the needs of users and create the most effective emotional intelligence tool on the market.
