One of the Six Little Dragons of Hangzhou's companies, Unitree Robotics, has seen a significant increase in shipments of its humanoid robots this year, says founder and chief executive officer Wang Xing-xing.
Wang believes the entire robotics industry has experienced rapid growth in the first half of this year.
Speaking at a State Council press conference, Wang said general-purpose humanoid robots will undoubtedly become a mainstream direction in future technological development.
He predicts that over the next three to five years, the application of humanoid robots across various industries will accelerate.
There are already some use cases, including household and industrial applications, as well as high-risk scenarios such as disaster rescue operations, he added.
Wang noted that China possesses strong manufacturing capabilities and hardware expertise, while the US has a robust artificial intelligence software ecosystem – each with its own advantages, making collaboration mutually beneficial.
He also emphasized that current technological limitations pose significant challenges for robotics and AI, necessitating global cooperation to address them.
Wang expressed strong confidence in the development of China's private economy, citing favorable policies and a supportive environment that encourage greater investment in research, development, and production, leading to the creation of more innovative products and technologies.
