Apprentice Britney Wong Po-ni fractures leg in scary barrier mishap

Britney Wong Po-ni faces an extended stint on the sidelines after a scary barrier incident left her with a fractured right leg. 

The apprentice, who had ridden six winners from 66 rides heading into the meeting, was transported to hospital for medical treatment following the pre-race mishap involving Family Knight. 

After being loaded into the starting gates before race five, Family Knight reared and became cast when it got its left leg over a starting-gate partition. The horse pinned Wong's lower leg against the barrier, causing the injury.
