Following the Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade held yesterday, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui praised the event as spectacular, noting that all the floats were stunning and beautifully crafted.
In her social media post on Wednesday, Law highlighted Cathay Pacific’s 80th anniversary performance, where cabin crew members showcased uniforms throughout the airline’s history, calling the show both nostalgic and captivating.
Floats from major attractions including Hong Kong Disneyland, Ocean Park and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, as well as first-time participants such as McDonald’s, Well-Wishing Festival in Lam Tsuen and a float featuring the city’s trendy IPs, all displayed their unique charm, she added.
Law also noted that the Tourism Board was well-prepared, concluding the parade perfectly with a grand finale featuring a Year of the Horse-themed float and a float representing Kai Tak Stadium.
In addition to the floats, Law said that more than 40 performance teams delivered lively, thrilling and amusing shows that greatly impressed the audience, who left with excitement and joyful smiles.
The cultural chief pleaded that authorities would continue their efforts to bring more remarkable events during the Lunar New Year holiday. “As the parade has flooded social media feeds, I’ll also join in the fun and share some of my personal photos!” she wrote at the end of her post.
