Henderson Land Development Chairman Martin Lee Ka-shing has filed a lawsuit at the Hong Kong High Court against actress Chrissie Chau Sau-na, five YouTube channels and Google LLC, alleging defamation and harassment over what he described as false rumors.
In a personal statement, Lee said Chau triggered false speculation that harmed his reputation. He stressed that he does not know Chau and has no relationship with her.
Lee said he believes the rumors first emerged in 2016 during Chau’s movie promotion campaign, when headlines suggested she was linked to a “married super-rich second-generation heir,” leading the public to wrongly assume it referred to him. He said a lawyer’s letter was issued to Chau that same year.
He added that over the past decade, fabricated claims and videos have continued to circulate across Chinese-language media, social platforms and YouTube, naming him and/or implying his identity, and using photos of him and his family. He said some content also dragged unrelated women into the rumors and even invented criminal scenarios involving his family.
According to the statement, a fresh wave of discussion arose in June 2025 when Chau mentioned sponsorship rumors in a YouTube interview while promoting a new film, which, he said, reignited online speculation. Lee said the renewed claims caused distress to his family, who were grieving the death of his father, Lee Shau-kee, at the time.
Lee said the situation has crossed a reasonable line and that the lawsuit aims to clarify the facts, defend his and his family’s reputation, and combat online harassment.
